The first time I went to Europe in October, 1962, I traveled by steamship, the Queen Elizabeth. I landed in Southampton, England and headed for Cork, Ireland to do a favor for Stan Laurel. That's right, Stan Laurel of Laurel & Hardy. I met him in Los Angeles while I was a student in art school. These photos were taken during the several days I spent in Cork.

In 2004 I showed these photos to a Berkeley friend, a native of Cork. "Oh, those are the Dunne Brothers," he said pointing to the street musicians. "They were quite well known in Cork. Everybody knew them."
